Demolition of the Bottleworks in 1948/9

Pilot Terrace c 1900 viewed from the dock, the Bottlemaker's Arms known locally as the "Red Light" at left, this pub was still operating in 1934. The Royal Oak at the near corner (just left of mast) appears in the Trade Directories in 1861- 1894. Demolished in 1935 the street was originally built in the 1830s to house pilots only, however the pilots who were very well paid soon abandoned the street as better housing became available. By 1861 36 families inhabited these 11 houses.
Wood Houses at right, east of Ropery Walk.

Low Ropery Walk demolished in the early/mid 1930s. These houses were situated at the southern corner of Ropery Walk, at the eastern end of the Duckyard and opposite the eastern end of the Jennings Foundry.
